Man United see off Brighton

Manchester United played host to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

United’s last league outing prior to Brighton saw them dealt a 1-0 defeat away to Bournemouth with the Red Devils really struggling away from home in the league this campaign.

Luckily for Man United, they were back at Old Trafford on Sunday and they dominated Brighton.

Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for United 17 minutes into the tie with an own goal doubling their lead just two minutes later.

Lewis Dunk did pull one back for the Seagulls 64 minutes into the clash but Marcus Rashford quickly restored United’s two-goal lead in the 66th minute.

The tie finished 3-1 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side up to 7th in the Premier League, just one point adrift of 5th place Sheffield United.

McTominay’s potential injury

Despite the positive display vs Brighton, United do look to have suffered a blow on Sunday.

Scott McTominay has been an integral member of the Man United midfield so far this campaign.

However, in injury-time vs Brighton, McTominay went down in pain and was treated by United’s medical staff, as shown in the image below.

After the game, BBC Sports reporter Simon Stone provided an update on McTominay, stating the midfielder went down the tunnel on a stretcher.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would then provide an update on McTominay after the game:

“Over on his ankle. Painful one. I had one and was out for eight weeks. Could be out for two. We will see.”
