Romelu Lukaku Manchester United

A number of updates regarding the future of Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku have emerged online this evening.

United exit links

Speculation surrounding Red Devils’ striker Lukaku has been rampant this summer.

On the back of a disappointing campaign last time out, during which he managed to find the net just 15 times across all competitions, rumours have long insisted that the board at Old Trafford are open to the idea of parting with Lukaku:

Of the clubs touted as potential destinations, meanwhile, Serie A giants Inter Milan were previously the most persistently-linked.

Antonio Conte, who was named as the new Nerazzurri boss in May, is said to have identified Lukaku as a key summer target.

Dybala swap talks collapse

The last week, though, saw a new clear front-runner emerge in the race for the Belgian’s signature.

The outfit in question were Juventus.

A high-profile swap deal between the Bianconeri and Manchester United was heavily-touted across the European media, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that an agreement in principle had been found.

Last night, however, saw the Red Devils call time on their pursuit of Dybala, amid serious questions over the Argentine’s desire to play at Old Trafford:

As such, Lukaku’s future has since also been thrown into serious doubt.

After confirming that the potential deal between United and Juventus had been abandoned, Simon Stone went on to suggest that the former could still sell their Belgian hitman, without seeking out a replacement:

‘Talks ongoing’

And the reliable Kristof Terreur of HLN has this evening provided an update on the situation.

First, Lukaku was photographed at the training ground of former club Anderlecht, as the 26-year-old ‘waits for a move’:

Terreur subsequently added that ‘talks are ongoing’ over an Old Trafford exit, though there is ‘still no solution’ in sight over Lukaku’s future:
