Benitez leaves Newcastle

Rafa Benitez recently departed Newcastle United when his contract expired on June 30th.

The Spaniard had a decent amount of success with the Magpies given his limited transfer budget.

Benitez would help Newcastle win promotion back to the Premier League in 2017 before keeping them in the top-flight in the last two seasons, finishing in 10th and 13th place.

Benitez has since joined Chinese side, Dalian Yifang.

Bruce linked with Newcastle job

With the 2019/20 Premier League season just under a month away, the North East outfit are still without a new boss.

The latest manager to be linked with the vacant Newcastle job is Steve Bruce.

Bruce is currently managing in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday.

He has taken charge of 18 Sheff Wed matches, winning seven, drawing eight and losing three.

Bruce has since spoken out about the rumours linking him with the Newcastle job:

“It’s news to me. God only knows what happened on Tuesday afternoon. There seemed to be an upsurge [in the betting] from somewhere.

“John Terry was favourite yesterday. It was Mikel Arteta the day before, so who knows? As far as I am concerned, I am here, I am going home tomorrow and looking forward to walking the dog.” As quoted by the Mirror.
